Experienced, nurturing one-to-one support from an outstanding practitioner
VICTORIA, CAIRO
David is a great help in supporting both of my children with their maths and phonics. My son particularly loves the fun games they played, and my daughter is much more confident with phonics now. David really cares about making each session enjoyable.
CHRIS, NORFOLK
My son's reluctance in writing has been transformed since we signed up to Tailwind. David made each session relevant to Daniel's interests and his patience and kindness has been brilliant. He has really enjoyed the online learning experience.
DAISY, BRISTOL
I whole - heartedly recommend David as a tutor. He very soon identified what my boy needed support with in maths , and he kept us involved all the way. Sam surpassed expectations in his SATs - he just did not have the mindset to do this until he worked with David!

Can I see your terms and conditions?Terms and Conditions By using Tailwind Tuition's online services, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions: Payment Sessions last one hour. Fees shall be calculated at a rate of £35 for one-to-one tutoring sessions and £20 per student in the small group sessions. No further fees shall be charged for preparation time of the tutor. Fees may be adjusted from time to time and shall become effective after having given the student's parent or carer two weeks written notice. Tailwind Tuition accepts payment for sessions upfront. No sessions will take place without the full amount paid for the session. This can be done by contacting Tailwind Tuition directly. It is vital that at least four weeks notice is given if your child is not going to be able to attend any session due to a holiday. Unfortunately, as a small business, Tailwind Tuition will not be able to refund any payment made if a student is ill and cannot attend a session. No adjustment to fees shall be made for time due to late arrival by the student or by early termination of session by the student. Any lost time due to the late arrival of the tutor shall be compensated by extending a lesson by mutual agreement and by such amount of time that was lost. The tutor agrees to wait 15 minutes from the time of the scheduled session for the student's arrival before considering that session cancelled without sufficient prior notice and therefore subject to a bill for the scheduled session. How does online tutoring work?Sessions last for one hour. Parents can choose whether to focus this time on one particular subject or split the session in half for both two separate areas for development. It is up to parents to determine how many sessions to take but it is advised that at least half a terms' worth of these sessions are booked for an effective outcome. I use Zoom to tutor children online - each session is recorded for safeguarding reasons. Depending on the age and needs of your child, I use a range of teaching methods and resources: online whiteboards and presentations are usually used to convey information and I can adapt my approach for each student, to ensure a bespoke learning experience for each child. Typically, the students I teach play games, complete worksheets and take part in quizzes although I will adapt each lesson to suit the learning style of each student. For each new student, I spend a bit of time getting to know them before assessing their understanding - this assessment is not informal but incredibly powerful when it comes to tailoring the support they receive over the following sessions. For children studying for SATs or 11+ tests, I use test paper-style questioning and methodology to guarantee students are well equipped for these exams. I will inform parents on their child's progress as the sessions unfold. Your child needs a device with a stable internet connection and camera. They will also need a pen or pencil and paper to work on. Sometimes, I will supply worksheets and other resources to pupils ahead of the session to be printed out. They might benefit from having the use of a drawing tablet, in order to interact with the whiteboard on the screen, although this is optional. Parents are more than welcome to be present in the initial sessions when I am getting to know the student.
